Segall has always been prolific, and with another new album announced for 2022 he’s now set to release six albums in the last seven years: Emotional Mugger in 2016, Ty Segall in 2017, Freedom’s Goblin in 2018, First Taste in 2019 and Harmonizer last year. “Hello, Hi” builds melody upon melody as the track progresses, making for one of the most satisfying tracks in his extensive repertoire. While the song certainly has an aggressive edge with twisting guitar riffs, Segall’s vocal delivery has a hint of falsetto. It opens with simple acapella harmonizing before bursting into a wall of fuzzy garage rock. Despite the intimate nature of the album’s creation, “Hello, Hi” doesn’t indicate it’ll be a quiet affair. In addition to United States tour dates, he’ll be making appearances at Way Out West Festival in Sweden, Palp Festival in Switzerland, Festival Paredes de Coura in Portugal, La Route du Rock Festival in France and Green Man Festival in the United Kingdom.įor Hello, Hi, Segall recorded the entire 10-song album himself at home. Along with the announcement of the new album, Segall has released the title track and shared tour dates that run from June 2022 until late August.
